Dear Applicant,

Thank you for beginning the application process for a nomination to one of the United States Military Service Academies. It is my honor to be a nominating authority for the State of Tennessee, and I am proud to have the opportunity to work with the young men and women who want to serve our country.

This application is open from Monday, March 16th through Tuesday, October 5th, 2021. All application materials must be submitted by Tuesday, October 5th, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. ET for 2022 nominations. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Candidates for consideration must submit the following:

Online Questionnaire
- Includes the Essay portion of the application
  - One (1) Essay that accurately and thoughtfully answers the prompt, "Why do you want to attend a Service Academy?"
Three (3) Letters of Recommendation
Official High School Transcript (and College, if applicable)
SAT and ACT Scores (can be super scored)
- Submit your test scores electronically to Senator Hagerty's institution codes:
  - SAT: 1987
  - ACT: 7183

Once you complete the Online Questionnaire, you will receive an email with instructions for submitting the remainder of your application materials.

In order to be eligible for an Academy Nomination, each candidate must:

Be at least 17 years of age, but not yet 23 by July 1st of the year he or she is admitted to the Service Academy. For Merchant Marine Academy, the upper age limit is 25.
Be a United States Citizen at the time he or she enters the Service Academy, and a legal resident of Tennessee.
Be unmarried, not pregnant, and have no legal obligation to support children or other dependents.
Meet the minimum requirements of the Academy to which he or she is applying. Candidates who do not meet the school's minimum requirements will not receive an interview for the Service Academy.

Please be sure that you have opened an application file with the Academy you are applying to, and that you have completed any of their additional requirements. Remember that graduating from a Service Academy obligates you to serve at least five years of active duty.

Keep in mind that it is YOUR responsibility (not your parents' or teachers') to ensure your entire application is completed and submitted in a timely manner.

The competition for congressional nominations is high, so I also encourage you to apply for a nomination from all of your other nominating sources: Senator Marsha Blackburn, your U.S. Congressman, and the Vice President.

Instructions

Below you will find the application questionnaire and a text box for your essay. Once you begin the questionnaire, your answers will not be saved until it is complete; therefore, you cannot exit and return at a later date. Please set aside at least 45 (forty-five) minutes to complete this portion of the application, as there is an essay component at the end.

Once you click the "Submit" button at the bottom, you will be prompted to review your answers. You must click "Submit" again in order for your questionnaire to be complete.

In order for your application to be considered for review, all required fields must be filled out. Once you have completed this portion of the application, you will receive a confirmation email with instructions for submitting your three (3) Letters of Recommendation, Official High School Transcript (and College, if applicable), and your SAT and/or ACT scores.

Be sure to give yourself enough time to complete the application in its entirety.
