A NON- PROFIT LAUNCHED JUST LAST MONTH. (PHONER INTERVIEW) "FEED THE FRONTLINES GEORGIA WAS AN IDEA THAT WAS SORT OF THOUGHT UP BY THREE REALLY GOOD FRIENDS FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA, WE'RE ALL ALUMS NOW, THERE NAMES ARE ANITA QUALLS, ADITYA SOOD AND VINEET RAMAN, THEY'RE ALL FROM ATLANTA AND WERE SORT OF THINKING ABOUT HOW IT WOULD BE NICE TO BE ABLE TO DO SOMETHING TO HELP OUT, WE'RE ALL STUDENTS AND WANTED TO DO SOMETHING TO HELP OUT OUR STATE AND HELP OUT OUR COMMUNITIES. TUESDAY.. THE FEED THE FRONTLINES GEORGIA EFFOR MADE A STOP AT MEMORIAL HEALTH'S EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT, PROVIDING 25 MEALS FROM PATRON MEXICAN RESTAURANT, ALL THANKS T GENEROUS DONATIONS WHICH SO FAR HAVE TOTALED OVER 50- THOUSAND DOLLARS. (PHONER) "I DON'T THINK WE EVER EXPECTED TO BE AT THE NUMBER WE ARE NOW, THAT'S LIKE A REALLY PLEASANT AND GREAT SURPRISE, BUT I ALSO DON'T THINK IT'S TOO SHOCKING EITHER TO SEE HOW PEOPLE HAVE REALLY BEEN COMING TOGETHER TO SUPPORT THEIR COMMUNITY BUSINESSES, AND TO ALSO SUPPORT THE PEOPLE WHO ARE HELPING TAKE CARE OF US IN THE CRISIS." AND OF COURSE THE BENEFICIARIES OF ALL THI KINDNESS.. THE HEALTH CARE WORKERS THEMSELVES. (LORI CONAWAY- DIRECTOR, EMERGENCY DEPT. MEMORIAL HEALTH) "THEY REALLY FEEL APPRECIATED AND IT MAKES FOR A NICE SURPRISE FOR THEM TO KNOW THAT THEY'RE GETTING FED AND PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITY ARE THINKING OF THEM AND WANTING TO D SOMETHING FOR THEM BECAUSE OF THE SITUATION THAT WE'RE IN RIGHT NOW." Feed the Frontlines Georgia providing meals for health care workers
Another organization is stepping up to help feed those battling on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.The latest organization to provide delicious meals for the health care workers at Memorial Health is Feed the Frontlines Georgia, a non-profit launched just last month. "Feed the Frontlines Georgia was an idea that was sort of thought up by three really good friends from the University of Georgia," said Prabjoht Minhas, Savannah Coordinator for Feed the Frontlines Ga. "We're all alums now, there names are Anita Qualls, Aditya Sood and Vineet Raman, they're all from Atlanta and were sort of thinking about how it would be nice to be able to do something to help out. We're all students and wanted to do something to help out our state and help out our communities."Tuesday, the Feed the Frontlines Georgia effort made a stop at Memorial Health's Emergency Department, providing 25 meals from Patron Mexican Restaurant, all thanks to generous donations which so far have totaled over $50,000."I don't think we ever expected to be at the number we are now, that's like a really pleasant and great surprise," explained Minhas. "But I also don't think it's too shocking either to see how people have really been coming together to support their community businesses, and to also support the people who are helping take care of us in the crisis."And of course the beneficiaries of all this kindness, the health care workers themselves."They really feel appreciated and it makes for a nice surprise for them to know that they're getting fed," said Lori Conaway, Director of Memorial Health's Emergency Dept. "And people in the community are thinking of them and wanting to do something for them because of the situation that we're in right now."In addition to their statewide efforts, Feed the Frontlines Georgia has also delivered to other cities in our area including Hinesville and Statesboro.Right now, Feed the Frontlines Georgia is providing meals to 37 different hospitals and clinics throughout the state.
