Senator Lankford and Congressman Russell Tour New Amazon Delivery Facility in OKC

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Senator James Lankford (R-OK) and Congressman Steve Russell (R-OK) spent Tuesday morning touring an Amazon delivery station in Oklahoma City. The 60,000 square-foot delivery center is the first of its kind in Oklahoma.

“Amazon continues to revolutionize online shopping by striving to ensure its customers receive their purchases on time and as promised, including in Oklahoma,” said Lankford. “As internet commerce continues to take shape, Amazon remains at the forefront of merging innovative technology and processes with local small business partnerships to meet market demand for online purchases. We sincerely appreciate Amazon’s investment in Oklahoma and for continuing to work with local businesses and communities to build a marketplace that benefits both online and brick-and-mortar business interests. I am grateful Amazon has located one of its newest delivery facilities in the heart of Oklahoma.”

“Having Amazon in Oklahoma City is very exciting for our community,” Russell said. “Not only will this facility speed up deliveries for customers, but it will also provide jobs with competitive wages and benefits for hundreds of Oklahomans and that’s good news for our state. Selecting Oklahoma for its latest fulfillment center was no accident. Amazon recognizes Oklahoma is a wise investment for skilled workers and continued growth. I am proud Amazon has chosen Oklahoma City and the Fifth Congressional District to expand their presence and provide new opportunities for our community.”

Amazon’s 60,000 square-foot delivery station opened in Oklahoma City in September. Amazon is one of the world’s leading shopping websites, offering customers an enhanced buying experience on top of speedy shipping options. Centers like the one in Oklahoma City will enable Amazon to deliver packages on Sundays while expediting the delivery process during the week.

Oklahoma will feel the economic benefit of Amazon as it provides options for customers and expands the local job market. More than 460 part-time and full-time employees work and innovate at this delivery station, and the company anticipates creating more than 1,500 full-time jobs by the end of 2019.
