Senators Lankford, Inhofe Applaud Senate Confirmation of US Attorneys for Oklahoma

WASHINGTON, DC – Senators James Lankford and Jim Inhofe (R-OK) today applauded Senate confirmation of Brian J. Kuester to be United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, and R. Trent Shores to be United States Attorney for the Northern District of Oklahoma, by unanimous consent. 

“Brian and Trent are both great candidates to serve as US Attorneys for the Northern District and Eastern District of Oklahoma, and I’m grateful they were confirmed today by the Senate,” said Lankford. “I am confident that they will serve our state well because of their experience and commitment to the rule of law.”

“Brian and Trent have a demonstrated commitment to being fair and ethical in their application of the law,” said Inhofe. “I am pleased they were confirmed by the Senate today, and believe they will serve Oklahoma well in their new role.”

Mr. Shores is an Assistant United States Attorney in the Northern District of Oklahoma, where he prosecutes human trafficking and child exploitation, drug-trafficking organizations, public corruption, and white-collar crime. He also serves as the national security cyber specialist for the Northern District. Mr. Shores previously served as First Assistant Attorney General for the State of Oklahoma and deputy director for the Department of Justice’s Office of Tribal Justice, where he developed initiatives to promote public safety in Indian Country. Mr. Shores graduated from Vanderbilt University and the University of Oklahoma College of Law.

Mr. Kuester is the District Attorney for District 27 in Oklahoma, a position he has held since 2011. Mr. Kuester was elected in November 2010, and again in 2014. From 2008 to 2010, Mr. Kuester was a Staff Counsel for Allstate Insurance Company. Prior to that, Mr. Kuester served as an Assistant District Attorney for the Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office. From 2000 to 2003, Mr. Kuester was an associate at Robinette & Osmond Law Firm. Prior to receiving his law degree, Mr. Kuester served on two separate police forces in Missouri, in Fulton and in Springfield. Mr. Kuester received his B.S. from Central Missouri State University in 1990 and his J.D. from the University of Tulsa School of Law in 2000.
