Senator Lankford Votes to Repeal Obamacare, Provide More Health Care Options

WASHINGTON, DC – Senator James Lankford (R-OK) today voted in support of the Restoring Americans’ Health Care Freedom Reconciliation Act (HR 3762), which repeals Obamacare and limits federal funding for organizations that perform abortions, like Planned Parenthood. The bill passed by a vote of 52-47.

“Five years ago, President Obama made big promises to the American people,” said Lankford. “He promised Americans that they could keep their health care plan, and he promised lower health care costs; he promised lower premiums, and lower co-pays. Since the passage of Obamacare, these broken promises continue to frustrate families. In Oklahoma, many residents have lost their doctor and health plan, and their rates will increase by as much as 35 percent next year.

“Obamacare costs Oklahomans and all Americans more and denies patients the quality care they deserve. We should reject the Washington, DC mandates and return the authority for health care management to the states. We can do better.”

During debate, Lankford offered a Health Care Compact amendment (#2877), which would give states the option to join a pilot program that gives them the freedom to regulate health care within their borders. Lankford spoke about this amendment, Planned Parenthood and Obamacare during a floor speech yesterday
