Blackburn, Ossoff to Continue Investigative Oversight as Head of Human Rights Subcommittee

February 16, 2023

U.S. Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) and Jon Ossoff (D-Ga.) will continue vigorous investigative oversight this Congress as Ranking Member and Chair of the Senate Human Rights Subcommittee.

“There is work to be done domestically and internationally to put an end to human and sex trafficking and to support freedom fighters abroad. Human rights has long been a priority for me – from passing bipartisan legislation to protect the Hong Kong freedom fighters to ensuring citizens under totalitarian regimes have access to the internet and ending child exploitation. I look forward to partnering with Senator Ossoff on this important issue,” said Ranking Member Blackburn.

“I look forward to working alongside Senator Blackburn to investigate abuse, misconduct, and malpractice that hurts my constituents in Georgia and Americans nationwide. I take my obligation to conduct effective Congressional oversight seriously and will continue pursuing the truth on behalf of Georgians and all Americans,” said Chairman Ossoff.

Ranking Member Blackburn and Chairman Ossoff will be joined on the Senate Judiciary Human Rights Subcommittee by Senators John Kennedy (R-La.), Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), Peter Welch (D-Vt.).
