A sincere "Thank You."

Veterans from Tennessee have defended our country with distinction and honor.  But all too often they come home to a system that does not provide them the care they need and deserve. As I work to make government more effective, I will fight every day to make sure Tennessee’s Veterans have access to programs and services that actually meet their needs.

Department of Veterans Affairs

The Department of Veterans Affairs provides a variety of services and benefits for Veterans and their families. These services range from employment assistance and financial support for college tuition, treatment for service-related injuries and health conditions, and assistance with burials in cemeteries designated for veterans.

Veterans Benefits

Veterans Health Care

The Veterans Health Administration is America’s largest integrated health care system and serves nine million enrolled Veterans each year. Eligible Veterans have access to primary care and specialty care services to address individual needs like women’s health and mental health.  Learn more on how to apply for VA health care benefits here

  • Community Care - For Veterans eligible for VA health care, VA’s goal is to provide Veterans with the care they need at the right time, at the right place, from the right provider.  In some cases, Veterans may need to receive care from a local community care provider, paid for by VA.

Burials and Memorials

The National Cemetery Administration is responsible for honoring our Veterans when they pass. VA provides the gravesite, grave liner, opening and closing of the grave, headstones, marker, medallions, U.S. burial flag, Presidential Memorial Certificate and perpetual care of the gravesite at no cost to the family.  Burial benefits are also available for spouses and dependents.

Combating Veteran Homelessness

VA’s specialized programs for homeless Veterans serve hundreds of thousands of homeless and at-risk Veterans each year. Independently and in collaboration with federal and community partners, VA programs provide Veterans with housing solutions, employment opportunities, health care, justice- and reentry-related services and more.
