Sen. Cruz Receives 'A' Rating on the Susan B. Anthony List National Pro-Life Scorecard

WASHINGTON. D.C. - As a leading defender of life and member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) today received an A rating on the Susan B. Anthony List National Pro-Life Scorecard.

Following the release of the scorecard, Sen. Cruz said:

"Every life is a precious and unique gift from God that deserves to be protected from the moment of conception to the moment of natural birth. We've made real steps forward to defend the right to life, thanks in large part to the courage and leadership of the Susan B. Anthony List. Our fight for life is far from over, and I'm proud to fight alongside the men and women of this organization each and every day."

Jamie Dangers, Legislative Director for the Susan B. Anthony List, said:

"Sen. Cruz has voted consistently to protect the lives of unborn babies and infants as well as the consciences of taxpayers who don't want their hard-earned tax dollars paying for abortion domestically or internationally. While the pro-abortion majority in the U.S. House of Representatives continually sends the Senate bills that roll back pro-life protections, the Senate has made it their priority to confirm judges and justices who will respect the constitution and leave legislating to the legislative branch."

As a strong advocate for the pro-life movement in the Senate, Sen. Cruz is an original co-sponsor of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act and the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. In February, during a full Senate Judiciary committee hearing focused on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, Sen. Cruz denounced Democrats' extreme pro-abortion statements and defended the need to protect the precious lives of the unborn. Learn more about his efforts here.

Earlier this month, Sen. Cruz led a group of 20 Republican senators in urging U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Stephen Hahn to exercise the FDA's authority to classify the abortion pill Mifeprex as an "imminent hazard to the public health." Learn more here and here.
