Sen. Chuck Grassley today made the following comment on Obamacare.
“Obamacare came with the promise of lower health care costs and more health care options. Those promises looked like pie in the sky then, but now they’re simply broken promises. The number of plans in the vast majority of areas of the country are in single digits, sometimes the low single digits, as in Iowa. We’re seeing requested rate increases in double digits, as one insurer is seeking in Iowa. Farmers and small business owners that used to be able to help their employees with Health Reimbursement Arrangements can’t do that anymore. That’s one more option off the table, despite promises, and it’s a big one. I’ve heard from a lot of Iowans who are upset about it. I don’t blame them. It’s something I’m trying to fix, with strong support in the Senate and House of Representatives and from small business owners. Congress needs to work toward a health care solution that offers both affordable and quality care. It ought to be the product of a bipartisan consensus, because that will produce a stronger proposal than something rushed through on a partisan basis, and it ought to achieve what it sets out to accomplish.”
