Energy Committee Sends Deputy Secretary Of The Interior Nominee To Senate Floor With Bipartisan Vote

May 13, 2021

Washington, DC – Today, the U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee held a business meeting to consider the pending nomination of Tommy P. Beaudreau to be Deputy Secretary of the Interior. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV), Chairman of the Committee, voted to support Mr. Beaudreau’s nomination and he passed out of committee by a recorded vote of 18-1.

“I believe Mr. Beaudreau will be an outstanding Deputy Secretary. He is experienced.  He knows the Department of the Interior and is familiar with the wide range of issues that come before it. He has clearly demonstrated that he has both a firm grasp of the issues and the ability to listen, learn, and work with all sides and to find common sense solutions to difficult problems. I believe Senators on both sides of the aisle will find that he is someone they can work with. His performance at our hearing two weeks ago demonstrated that he has the knowledge, the experience, the temperament, and the skills needed to serve in this important position. I believe that Mr. Beaudreau is supremely well qualified for the job, and I heartily support his nomination,” said Chairman Manchin.
