June 17, 2021

Washington, DC – Today, the U.S. Senate voted to confirm Tommy P. Beaudreau to be the Deputy Secretary of the Interior by a vote of 88-9. U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV), Chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, released the following statement after voting to confirm Mr. Beaudreau.

“I'm pleased to join my Senate colleagues in voting to confirm Mr. Beaudreau to be our next Deputy Secretary of the Interior. During his confirmation hearing, he clearly demonstrated that he understands the role of the Department of the Interior in striking the balance in its dual mission of preserving and protecting our national parks and public lands and providing a large part of the energy and mineral resources that we need to power the nation. He advanced out of the Energy Committee with strong bipartisan support, and I am pleased he received strong bipartisan support today for his confirmation. I was happy to support his nomination and look forward to working with him to protect our public lands and ensure the responsible use of all our natural resources.”
