Manchin Applauds New Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Facility In Bridgeport

Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) applauded the announcement by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Regional Jet (MHIRJ) on the plans for a facility in Bridgeport that will serve as a Component Repair and Overhaul (CR&O) facility. The new facility will expand the existing Maintenance Repair and Overhaul Facility located at the North Central West Airport, creating good-paying jobs and boosting West Virginia’s economic development.

“MHIRJ is a great partner for West Virginia and I am pleased they are expanding yet again here in the Mountain State. After meeting with the President of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries last year, I know they have big plans for West Virginia. That’s why I worked to secure millions in Economic Development Administration awards for the expansion of the North Central Regional Airport Aerotech Business Park and fought for more than $40 million in direct payroll support to help the Bridgeport facility stay open during the COVID-19 pandemic. MHIRJ provides good-paying jobs and keeps investing in our regional economic development, and I look forward to continuing to strengthen our partnership in the years to come,” said Senator Manchin.

For years, Senator Manchin has partnered with Mitsubishi to support their development in West Virginia, creating hundreds of jobs and spurring economic development in the state. In January 2019, Senator Manchin applauded Mitsubishi’s aquistion of Bombardier’s regional jet program. In June 2021, Senator Manchin applauded Mitsubishi’s expansion of their West Virginia Service Center at the North Central Regional Airport Aerotech Business Park.
