Washington, DC – U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $5,108,582 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) to support and improve West Virginia’s response to public health emergencies.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the need for West Virginia to be prepared for any public health crisis that tests our state. I am pleased HHS is investing in DHHR to advance state and local public health efforts in the Mountain State. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to advocate for funding to keep West Virginians safe and healthy,” said Senator Manchin.

“As we enter the final stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s important that our health departments have the support needed to perform at their full potential. I’m glad to see this funding heading to our state to help support these efforts and the men and women who work so hard to keep our communities healthy. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to advocate for funding like this to make sure West Virginians are always prepared,” Senator Capito said.
