Manchin, Capito Announce Funding for Behavioral Health Workforce Education at West Virginia University

Charleston, WV – U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $195,760 through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) for the Behavioral Health Workforce Education and Training (BHWET) Program at West Virginia University (WVU). This program aims to increase the supply of behavioral health professionals and improve the quality of available behavioral health workforce services.

 

“Ensuring we have a robust behavioral health workforce with the tools and resources they need to provide quality healthcare to West Virginians is critical. I am pleased HHS is investing in the Behavioral Health Workforce and Education Training program at WVU to train our healthcare professionals. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to advocate funding to provide West Virginians with quality, affordable healthcare and to support West Virginians in need,” Senator Manchin said.

“This funding is welcome news to the West Virginians who rely on this program,” Senator Capito said. “This support for the BHWET program at WVU will support future behavioral health specialists, while also increasing the quality of accessible care in West Virginia.
