Manchin, Capito Announce U.S. Fish and Wildlife Conservation Funding

Washington, DC — U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), Ranking Member of the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee, both members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced West Virginia will receive $561,784 through the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s State Wildlife Grant (SWG) program. Funding will support natural resource stewardship and wildlife conservation efforts.

“West Virginia is blessed with beautiful, endless public lands and incredible wildlife. Like many of my fellow West Virginians, I enjoy hunting, fishing and exploring our great outdoors, and I’ve instilled that love and appreciation in my children and grandchildren,” Senator Manchin said. “I am pleased the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is investing in conservation and preservation across the Mountain State. As Chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee and as a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue advocating for funding to ensure West Virginia’s beautiful outdoor recreation areas are protected for generations to come.”

“The SWG program continues to facilitate better relationships between state officials, conservation organizations, and private landowners. Annual federal funding like this helps support West Virginia’s state conservation strategy,” Ranking Member Capito said. “Our state is blessed with an abundance of rich natural resources, including wildlife and aquatic species. This funding will help ensure West Virginia remains wild and wonderful for future generations.”
