Manchin Statement On The 5th Anniversary Of 2016 Flood In West Virginia

Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) released the following statement ahead of the fifth anniversary of the 2016 flood which devastated communities across West Virginia.

“Every West Virginian remembers the terrible flooding that ravaged southern West Virginia, killing 23 of our fellow West Virginians and destroying thousands of homes across the region. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about lives lost and damage done by this devastating flood. Gayle and I, along with all of West Virginia, continue to pray for the families whose lives were forever changed by the loss of their loved ones. West Virginia continues to prove that we can overcome anything when we come together as a state. I am incredibly proud to represent such a strong, resilient statewide community. I encourage all West Virginians to take a moment to remember our fellow West Virginians lost during this flood and to continue helping our communities rebuild from this horrible tragedy.”
