Cortez Masto Visits Flirtey Drone Delivery Startup

Senator Cortez Masto Tours Flirtey

Reno, Nev. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) toured the state-of-the-art manufacturing facility of drone delivery startup, Flirtey, to participate in a delivery demonstration and view flight operations.

According to Flirtey, their mission is to save lives and change lifestyles by making delivery instant. “The state of Nevada is proud to drive drone innovation and Flirtey’s milestones in the space have truly cemented Nevada’s position as the leader in the drone industry,” said Senator Cortez Masto.

Senator Cortez Masto, in a discussion with the company staff and CEO Matthew Sweeny, highlighted her recent bipartisan legislation designed to advance the development of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and build on the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) efforts to safely integrate them into the National Airspace System. As Senator Cortez Masto went on to say, “companies like Flirtey introduce new ways to grow and diversify our local economy, improve our daily lives and develop industry-leading innovations. I’m proud to work with Flirtey on behalf of the state of Nevada to safely and responsibly grow this revolutionary technology.”

The Safe Drone Act of 2017 will ensure that the United States keeps pace in the development and implementation of safe unmanned technology. Following the discussion, Cortez Masto viewed Flirtey’s cutting edge drone technology, including observing a remotely operated drone delivery in real-time.
