Key West showed its true and traditional colors when hundreds of residents and visitors, including kids, families and business owners, lined the entrance to Key West wearing red, white and blue in support of the 40 or so Wounded Warriors who participated in this year’s Soldier Ride through the Florida Keys.
The final leg of this year’s ride took the veterans from Naval Air Station Key West at Boca Chica into Key West on Jan. 11. The riders did a victory lap around the island and then met local military leaders at a ceremony at Bayview Park. From there, they climbed back on their bikes and invited members of the community to join them for a leisurely tour of Key West and Community Ride.
This year’s event was coordinated locally by the Key West’s Military Affairs Committee with the help of dozens of individuals and community groups.
