WASHINGTON, D.C. – In case you missed it, Senator Rick Scott wrote a letter to the editor of the Wall Street Journal in response to a recent op-ed on the Peace Corps’ decision to end its programs in Communist China. Yesterday, Senator Rick Scott also sent a letter to the Director of the Peace Corps requesting a detailed outline of the Peace Corps’ plan for a speedy withdrawal from Communist China. 

In the op-ed, Senator Rick Scott wrote, “…I’ve met with the Peace Corps director multiple times and asked her what the volunteers did in Communist China and why they were there….

When I asked what the return on investment was for the U.S. taxpayers, the director (shockingly) had no answer….

The Peace Corps finally came to its senses this month and said it is leaving Communist China. Since then, the director has refused to meet with me. I would love to hear its plan for a speedy withdrawal from Communist China, but I’m not holding my breath.”
