WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Senator Rick Scott released the second episode of his series in partnership with the Heritage Foundation: How Washington Wastes Your Money. Every Wednesday, Senator Scott highlights how Washington is failing the American people with its wasteful spending. See previous Washington Waste Wednesday features HERE and HERE.

Today’s episode focuses on return on investment. Every year, Washington automatically spends 70% of its total spending – $3 trillion in taxpayer dollars – on programs that do not receive regular Congressional review. In the video, Senator Scott highlights the “Water & Waste Disposal Loan & Grant Program,” which received $8.2 billion in federal funding and was expected to create 3,384 jobs for families in rural areas. The program ended up creating only 415 jobs – a horrible return on investment for American taxpayers.

Senator Scott is committed to making Washington work for families across the nation, and is working every day to make sure taxpayers get the best return on the investment of their hard earned tax dollars.
