Florida Senator Rick Scott is pushing for millions of dollars to funnel into Florida’s ports.

He’s  proposed $140 million in his budget for infrastructure and security upgrades to Florida ports.

When he was governor of Florida, Scott pushed for billions to pour into florida ports, including Port Tampa Bay. Just this week officials say the Big Bend expansion dredging project will be completed. That project will allow for more jobs, bringing with it an economic impact for Tampa Bay. It’ll also allow larger ships bring goods into the port and eventually be transported to communities along the I-4 corridor.

“When we invest in our ports we get more jobs. As we invest these dollars, in more cranes, dredge projects, we get more and more good paying jobs,” said Scott at a news conference at Port Tampa Bay this afternoon.

Other than investing in our ports, the Senator also wants to make big investments in our military which of course would include MacDill.
