Jacksonville, FL — Saying he is optimistic that Floridians will ‘show up’, Senator Rick Scott urged expanded coronavirus testing across the state. During an appearance on Jacksonville’s Morning News, Scott pointed to New York as an example of the pace he wants Florida to reach.
“I think New York has tested four or five times as many people as we have. We have got to get these tests up”, Scott said.
The Republican Senator said once protocols for rapid testing are learned, the next step would be a vaccine that may not come for another 6 to 18 months.
And he called for all airports in the United States to require temperature checks as part of the check-in process.
“We shouldn’t be flying around this country sick, and making other people sick”, Scott said.
