Sen. Scott: Businesses have a lot of work to do to ease coronavirus concerns

Jacksonville, FL — Florida Senator Rick Scott told Jacksonville’s Morning News that an individual person’s comfort level should be top of mind for businesses in the preparation for reopening.

“I think restaurants are going to have to be pretty creative to make us feel comfortable right now because we don’t have a vaccine yet, we’re not completely sure exactly what the protocol is when you get sick, how to keep you alive, so I think there’s gonna be, these businesses have a lot of work to do”, Scott said.

The Senator said he was very hopeful the U.S. House would pass a $484 billion relief package the Senate passed earlier in the week.

“I hope this is enough money to help them”, Scott said about small businesses that would have access to more money under the Paycheck Protection Program.  He chided wealthy people who applied for the assistance and don’t really need it.

“It’s supposed to be for small businesses, and then on top of that you saw that in the first package a lot of really small businesses couldn’t even apply until the last few days right before the money ran out”, Scott said.
