Assembled by Florida Senator Rick Scott, yesterday’s roundtable meeting in Naples, Fla., tapped representatives from six businesses from around the Sunshine State to participate in a discussion focused on current supply chain and labor shortage issues in manufacturing. Among the companies invited to participate—and the only powerboat builder in the mix—was Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats of Fort Myers, Fla.. According to a press release from Senator Scott’s office, the company was “handpicked” to join the discussion.

“Nor-Tech is a well-respected company in Lee County and has become the darling business in Cape Coral and Fort Myers, employing more than 200 people and purchasing various products from dozens of local vendors and distributors,” the release stated. “Senator Scott was looking for advice, ideas and guidance on what he could do to help, specifically with supply chain/inflation and labor market issues. Nor-Tech has been nominated for numerous esteemed awards during the past few years, including the Manufacturer of the Year award in Lee County.”

Nor-Tech co-founder Trond Schou and chief operating officer Henrik Margård represented the high-performance center console, V-bottom sportboat and catamaran builder.

“We are delighted to have a direct line to Senator Rick Scott’s office after this meeting,” said Schou. “With his prior private sector experience he understood completely what our challenges and needs are. He was sincerely engaged and we feel confident that he will be bringing our concerns up the proper channels.”
