WE WILL HAVE TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS THIS AFTERNOON. NEW AT NOON. SENATOR RICK SCOTT MADE A VISIT TO CENTRAL FLORIDA TODAY AND HELD A ROUNDTABLE WITH OTHER LOCAL LEADERS. NANCY: WESH 2’S TONY ATKINS SPOKE WITH THE SENATOR. SOME OF OUR LOCAL SHERIFFS WERE THEREFORE THIS CONVERSATION. REPORTER: THIS CONVERSATION WAS HOSTED BY MICHAEL CHITWOOD IN VOLUSIA COUNTY, IT FOCUSED ON TWO MAIN POINTS SENATOR WANTED TO DISCUSS WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT. THOSE 2 -- TWO THINGS WERE SECURING AMERICAN BORDERS, AS WELL AS DEALING WITH THE FENTANYL CRISIS IN AMERICA. THIS ROUNDTABLE WAS PART OF THE SENATOR’S MAKE WASHINGTON WORK TOUR, AN EFFORT TO BRING EFFORTS FROM FLORIDA TO WASHINGTON, D.C. THE SENATOR WAS JOINED BY A NUMBER OF SENTRA -- CENTRAL FLORIDA LEADERS AND LAW ENFORCEMENT. HE TOOK NOTES AS HAVING NARCAN READY TO SAVE LIVES AT SCHOOLS AND BUSINESSES AS NEEDED, AS WELL AS CONCERNS ABOUT RISING CRIME IN SOME ARROWS -- AREAS. SCOTT HOPING HIS POSITIONS ON KEY COMMITTEES COULD HELP BRING RESULTS BACK TO FLORIDA. >> WE ALL AT FAMILY MEMBERS, FRIENDS, THIS HAS IMPACTED ALL OF US. WE SHOULD BE UP IN ARMS. WE SHOULD EXPECT AT EVERY LEVEL OF GOVERNMENT PEOPLE SHOW UP AND DO THEIR JOB. IT IS NOT GOING TO GET SOLVED UNTIL WE GET A SECURE BORDER. THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HAS TO SECURE THE BORDER. I HAVE IDEAS, COMING HERE TODAY, MY GOAL WAS TO GET IDEALS FROM SHERIFFS AND LAW ENFORCEMENT AND OTHER GROUPS TO SAY, WHAT CAN WE DO? WE’VE GOT TO STOP THIS DEATH. Florida Sen. Rick Scott made a visit to Central Florida to host a roundtable. The senator touched on a number of issues he plans to work on when he heads back to Washington, D.C. Thursday's discussion focused on two main points: The fight against fentanyl and securing American borders. The roundtable was a part of the senator's “Make Washington Work” tour and an effort to bring ideas from Florida to Washington.He took notes as some ideas came up, such as during mentions to have requited Narcan ready to go in order to save lives at schools and businesses, as well as concerns about rising crime in some areas.“We all should be up in arms this is going on. We should expect at every level of government that people show up and do their jobs," Scott said. "It starts with securing the border. The federal government has to secure the border. I have a variety of ideas. Coming here today is to get ideas from these sheriffs and law enforcement, and we just got to stop this death.” Sen. Scott says he hopes his position on several key committees could bring results back for the people of Florida.His next stop will be on Friday in West Palm Beach.
