Sen. Rick Scott discusses fentanyl epidemic, securing the border
Florida Sen. Rick Scott made a visit to Central Florida to host a roundtable.
The senator touched on a number of issues he plans to work on when he heads back to Washington, D.C.
Thursday's discussion focused on two main points: The fight against fentanyl and securing American borders.
The roundtable was a part of the senator's “Make Washington Work” tour and an effort to bring ideas from Florida to Washington.
He took notes as some ideas came up, such as during mentions to have requited Narcan ready to go in order to save lives at schools and businesses, as well as concerns about rising crime in some areas.
“We all should be up in arms this is going on. We should expect at every level of government that people show up and do their jobs," Scott said. "It starts with securing the border. The federal government has to secure the border. I have a variety of ideas. Coming here today is to get ideas from these sheriffs and law enforcement, and we just got to stop this death.”
Sen. Scott says he hopes his position on several key committees could bring results back for the people of Florida.
His next stop will be on Friday in West Palm Beach.
