Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) recently introduced a resolution condemning the creation of Israel and calling for the recognition of “Nakba” which is a term commonly used by Palestinians in reference to the establishment of the Jewish state as a “catastrophe.” The proposed resolution comes less than two weeks after Israeli’s Independence Day, also known as Yom Ha’atzmaut.

In addition to Tlaib, the resolution is signed by members of the radical, left-wing squad such as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), and Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN).

Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) showcased his displeasure with the proposed resolution in a tweet.

“Israel is our great ally & the continued anti-Semitism from radical socialists in the House is horrific. These are @speakerPelosi’s Democrat members. Does she agree with them? If not, she must immediately condemn this.”

This tweet not only demonstrates Rick Scott’s disagreement with the anti-Israel rhetoric, but it pins the pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian sects of the Democratic Party against each other.

The left in recent years has been known for attempting to represent minority groups. These groups include, but are not limited to racial minorities, religious minorities, societal minorities, etc. However, Democrats not been proactive in terms of coming together as a party to decide who to support when these minority groups are fighting within. They were slow to the draw when it came to transgender athletes participating in women’s sports.

It will be interesting to see how the Democrats in the House and the Senate respond to the predicament they created.
