Sen. Rick Scott Issues Weekly Update on Biden’s Inflation Crisis

November 17, 2023

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Senator Rick Scott released a weekly update on his actions to address America’s debt crisis and rising inflation following the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) releasing Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Producer Price Index (PPI) numbers for October, which showed inflation continued to rise over the year. Since Joe Biden became president, CPI has risen 17.6% and PPI has risen 18.0%.

Earlier this week, following the latest CPI announcement by the BLS, Senator Scott released the following statement.

Senator Rick Scott said, “Yesterday, USA Today asked the same question millions of American families are asking this week, ‘Why is Thanksgiving so expensive?’ As Thanksgiving preparations begin, I’m not only hearing from families about how expensive the meal is this year, but how worried they are about making it through the holiday season. Inflation is up 17.6% since Joe Biden took office – a double-digit rise in prices for families in my state and all across America. Growing up, my family lived in public housing and I watched my parents struggle to put food on the table. I can’t imagine how my mom would have been able to put a Thanksgiving meal on the table if she was fighting Biden’s raging inflation. It makes me furious to know that too many families are facing that hardship right now and having to choose between a Thanksgiving dinner or making ends meet this month. The only way to beat back this raging inflation is to bring fiscal sanity back to Washington and I won’t stop fighting until we stop the wasteful spending and get that done.”

Since being elected to the U.S. Senate, Senator Scott has repeatedly urged action to address America’s debt crisis and the harmful effects of inflation. Click HERE for a comprehensive list of his statements and actions on this urgent issue.
