To help local families in need during the COVID-19 pandemic, Lifeline Youth Ministries donated over 1,000 boxes full of food and toiletries to local families.

The Elkhart non-profit distributed the boxes from 5 area elementary schools.

Each box contained 25 pounds of food.

"There's families that don't have their stimulus check yet, there's families that don't have unemployment checks yet so they're not able to buy food. So this is a real key stop gap measure to put some food on the table for some very needy families," said Darrell Peterson, the Executive Director of Lifeline Youth Ministries.

This is the second time Lifeline Youth Ministries has distributed meals during the pandemic.

They first donated 300 boxes of meals on March 31.
