U.S. Senator Thom Tillis visited the Greenville Chamber of Commerce Thursday to discuss jobs and tax cuts.

The Hammock Source hosted the roundtable meeting.

It focused on tax reform passed in December.

Topics discussed included cutting the tax burden, promoting trade, strengthening training, improving health care and border security.

“What we were trying to do was put more money in people’s pockets and more money available for businesses to re-invest,” said Tillis. “What’s important to Asheville may or may not be important to Greenville and the only way you will you ever understand those distinctions is investing time talking with people and trying to help them.”

The senator told attendees tax reform is not yet perfect, and he said a lot of work can still be done about it in Washington.
