Marijuana - Congress has tried before and failed.
It seems every time a bill is introduced that attempts to help veterans legally access medical marijuana through the VA or demand the VA conduct research with it, the bills die.
Connecting Vets reporter Abbie Bennett describes the 3 bills currently looking for support in Congress, and we discuss just how ridiculous the previous failures were.
The hearing very few heard.
Is Congress really interested in hearing about women's experiences with the VA? Connecting Vets Reporter Kaylah Jackson attended a Congressional meeting where women veterans explained the issues they're having with VA health care. However, she didn't see many representatives in the audience.
Senator King talks about; Iraq, Suicide, and Marijuana for Veterans?
Sen. Angus King (I-Maine) recently returned from a Congressional Delegation trip to northern Iraq, where he met with troops and Iraqi officials. "ISIS is not gone, ISIS is still there," King said. "There's a very serious concern and this comes from our military people, our state department but also Iraqis ... They want the American presence that is very important in that country to hold the coalition together."
King also shared with us his experience traveling with Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.) as they flew over the area where the Blackhawk helicopter she piloted was shot down back in 2004.
King also weighed in on legislation to prevent veteran suicide and medical marijuana for veterans.
