Sen. Scott Stands in Solidarity with Jewish Community at Chanukah in the Square

CHARLESTON, S.C. – On Sunday, December 10, 2023, U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.), member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, spoke at Chanukah in the Square 2023 – hosted by Chabad of Charleston. During his remarks, Senator Scott expressed support for Israel and the Jewish people and condemned the antisemitic, pro-Hamas demonstrations taking place in the United States and around the world, especially at American colleges and universities.

“Your federal funding is not a right; it’s a privilege. What is a right is for every Jewish student to go to class or to a library and not have to fear for their lives. I would say to every student on college campus fomenting hatred and antisemitism and promoting Jewish genocide and talking about terrorism, if you are on a visa, your visa is not a right. It is a privilege,” said Senator Scott. “As we celebrate the Festival of Lights, my prayer is within my lifetime, we will see the end of antisemitism, bigotry and hatred.”
