Price Check!

Bidenomics’ Hidden Costs and Surprise Fees Are Adding Up

The busiest shopping season of the year has begun, but record inflation is making finding a good deal difficult, even for the best of bargain shoppers.  And with temperatures dropping, home heating prices are going up, while most are already living paycheck-to-paycheck.

Hardworking Americans shouldn’t have to choose between staying warm and paying for food to feed their families.  But that is exactly what is happening.

After two years of never-ending increases in inflation, the president and his economic advisors just keep trying to explain away the problem.  Yes, global events have had an impact, but the bigger bite being taken out of your budget every month is a direct result of Bidenomics.

Here’s a price check:

Following the passage of the Democrats’ $2 trillion “American Rescue Plan” Act in early 2021, inflation in the U.S. spiked higher than the rate of other developed Western nations.  That was not a coincidence.  An analysis by the nonpartisan Federal Reserve Bank concluded that this “unprecedented” injection of trillions of dollars into the economy in such a very short period of time “contributed to about 3 percentage points of the rise in U.S. inflation.”  Some rescue!

Likewise, the Democrats’ so-called “Inflation Reduction Act” approved in August will increase the cost of natural gas, according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO).  This will have a direct impact on home heating costs as well as food prices, since natural gas is an essential ingredient in the production of fertilizer.

But that’s not all!  The “Inflation Reduction Act” will also increase the prices of new prescription drugs, according to CBO.

President Biden recently vowed to crack down on surprise charges, yet Bidenomics is making food, heating, medicine, and just about everything else more expensive.

November 2022 Squeal Award: President Biden

And that is why I am giving my November 2022 Squeal Award to President Biden for the secret costs hidden within the pages of his misleadingly-named bills that he is passing onto Americans who are already struggling to make ends meet.

We’ve all had enough of Washington’s false advertising, so I’ve introduced the Providing Reports on Inflation Costs and Economic Impact, or PRICE, Act that would end surprise fees on taxpayers by requiring an independent analysis to determine the impact of legislation on consumer prices and paychecks before the Senate votes.  That way, every American can see for themselves the true cost and decide if they can afford the bill!
