Pushing for Answers from President Trump’s Cabinet Nominees

This week: I participated in two confirmation hearings for President Trump’s nominees to lead federal agencies. During the Senate Finance Committee, I questioned Robert Kennedy Jr., President Trump’s nominee to lead the Department of Health and Human Services. Later in the week, the Senate Intelligence Committee held a confirmation hearing for Tulsi Gabbard, the nominee for director of national intelligence.

What I did: During both confirmation hearings, I pushed Kennedy and Gabbard to account for their past statements, including dangerous conspiracy theories and half-truths that they have peddled and profited off of. I asked the nominees to answer simple questions about past statements that matter to the American people and affect their ability to lead critical parts of our government.

What I believe: If confirmed, these nominees would hold important positions of power that have major consequences on the lives of Americans in every corner of our country, including here in Colorado. I will always push for transparency and accountability from our country’s highest leaders regardless of who is in presidential office.
