Meeting with Coloradans in Washington

What happened: My favorite part of my job is hearing what is on the minds of Coloradans and how I can help. This week, I was glad to meet with Coloradans from across our state, including members of the Rocky Mountain Farmers Union and the Colorado Hospital Association.
What’s next: From investing in agriculture and conservation to protecting Medicaid for the millions of Coloradans who rely on it, I was glad to have these important conversations about how to best support communities across our state.
2. Improving Disaster Assistance for Colorado’s Farmworkers

Visiting Southern Colorado Farms last fall.
What’s happening: Agriculture is the backbone of Colorado’s economy and central to our Western way of life, but as climate-fueled disasters become increasingly common, our state’s farmworkers are paying the price.
This week: I introduced legislation that will provide emergency assistance grants to farmworkers following extreme weather, public health emergencies, and other disasters beyond their control that affect their ability to earn a living. This bill will help ensure the workers who feed America get the assistance they need when disaster strikes.
3. Pueblo County: Come to Bennet Office Hours!
What I believe: There’s no greater responsibility as a Colorado senator than being responsive to my constituents' needs. If you’re having issues navigating a federal agency or receiving federal benefits, my team is here to help.
What’s happening: On Monday, May 19, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., my team will be holding office hours in Pueblo County at the Pueblo City-County Library District – Rawlings Branch (Main).
How to sign up: Coloradans interested in attending are encouraged to schedule an appointment by emailing: Jacob_Topping@bennet.senate.gov. For more information about navigating federal agencies, visit my website.
4. IN THE NEWS THIS WEEK
- This week, we recognized Teacher Appreciation Day, an opportunity to thank our extraordinary teachers for their dedication to shaping the next generation of Coloradans. Colorado’s educators inspire me every day.
- May is Mental Health Awareness Month. At a time when more than one in five Americans are living with mental illness, the Trump administration is working to sabotage critical mental health care. I will keep fighting to ensure Americans have more resources, not fewer.
- Happy National Pet Week to Captain Flint, Bandit, and furry friends across Colorado!
