Protecting Colorado Public Lands

Hiking in Gunnison County.
What I did: Ahead of Colorado Public Lands Day, I introduced two bills to protect Colorado’s incredible public lands:
What I believe: Both of these important bills were written in Colorado by Coloradans who live, work, and depend on these lands. They prove that people with wide-ranging interests can forge a compromise on a common vision to protect our public lands for future generations. I look forward to getting these important pieces of legislation across the finish line for our state.
2. Sign Up for My Town Hall in Pueblo
What’s happening: I will be holding a town hall in Pueblo on Saturday, May 24, at 3:00 PM MT.
How to sign up: Please register here to attend the town hall. On the day before the event, you will receive a confirmation email with the event location and entry details. If you can’t join us in person, the town hall will be livestreamed on my Facebook page here.
What I believe: The best part of my job is speaking with Coloradans about the issues that matter to them.
3. Fighting Corruption in the Trump Administration

What’s happening: This week, President Trump shared plans to accept a $400 million luxury jet from the Qatari government to use as Air Force One. This is a violation of our Constitution and poses severe counterintelligence risks, needlessly undermining national security.
What I believe: This is the latest in a series of harmful and reckless efforts by this administration that fly in the face of our country’s values. While President Trump claims to target fraud and abuse, his actions continue to prove that his priorities are his own interests and those of his wealthy friends.
What I did: This week, I joined 28 of my Senate colleagues on a resolution to condemn President Trump’s blatant act of corruption. I also demanded that the U.S. Department of Defense be transparent about the substantial national security and operational risks posed by this action.
4. IN THE NEWS THIS WEEK
- Colorado high school juniors: Applications are open for the Fall 2025 Senate Page Program. My time as a page instilled in me a great appreciation for public service and my role as a citizen. Learn more and apply before the May 23 deadline here.
- I joined my Senate colleagues to sound the alarm on Republican cuts to safety net programs – including Meals on Wheels and Head Start – that over 25 million Americans rely on.
- It was great to speak with Western Growers about our shared work to deliver for producers on the frontlines across Colorado and the West. I’m committed to showing up for Colorado’s farmers, families, and rural communities.
- On National Charter School Week, I introduced legislation to invest in charter schools to support students of every background. Across Colorado, charter schools improve student achievement and provide students with the flexibility and innovative teaching they need.
