Thank You For Joining Me At My Town Halls

Hearing from Coloradans at my town halls in Pueblo and Centennial
What’s happening: I spoke with Coloradans at three town halls this week across the Front Range in Pueblo, Centennial, and Denver. Thank you to all who showed up to make their voices heard. In case you missed them, you can watch my Pueblo town hall here, my Centennial town hall with Rep. Jason Crow here, and my Denver town hall with former Montana Senator Jon Tester and End Citizens United here.
What I believe: The best part of this job is getting to come home and hear from Coloradans about the issues that matter most to their families and communities. Now more than ever, these open and honest conversations are vital for our democracy. I look forward to taking these conversations back with me to Washington as I continue to fight for Colorado.
2. Fighting The Republicans’ “Big Beautiful Bill”

Pushing back against the Republican Budget Bill on CNN’s State of the Union
What’s happening: House Republicans rushed a bill through Committees and passed it on the House floor with no Democratic support. In addition to raising taxes for working families and lowering taxes for the wealthiest Americans, this dangerous piece of legislation includes extreme cuts and adds more red tape to Medicaid and SNAP. Now, the Republican Budget Bill is headed to the Senate.
What I did: I spoke out about the disastrous policies included in this bill. At multiple town halls and roundtables across Colorado, I spoke directly with my constituents about how this bill will harm their families. I also pushed back against the Republican Budget Bill on CNN’s State of the Union, which you can watch here. When I return to Washington this week, I will continue to stand up against these destructive cuts in the Finance Committee and on the Senate floor.
What I believe: As Republicans focus on enriching themselves and their friends, Senate Democrats will continue fighting to create an economy that works for everyone–not just the wealthy.
3. Honoring Our Service Members

Meeting Howard Berger, a 101-year-old WW2 veteran
What’s happening: On Monday, May 26, we celebrated Memorial Day–a reminder that we must never take for granted the sacrifices made by American servicemembers in defense of our country.
What I did: I spoke with Colorado veterans over Memorial Day weekend to thank them for their service to the United States of America and hear about the challenges they face today. I was honored to meet Howard Berger, a 101-year-old WW2 veteran. On Saturday, May 24, I got to sit down with Colorado veterans for a roundtable conversation about the obstacles they face here at home.
What I believe: On Memorial Day, we commemorate those who gave their lives for our freedom and honor the loved ones who carry their memories forward. Our country owes service members a great debt–which is why I will always fight to ensure veterans and their families receive the support they need.
4. IN THE NEWS THIS WEEK
- I was deeply disappointed by this week’s Supreme Court decision to support the expansion of the dangerous Uinta Railway project, which threatens Colorado’s communities, watersheds, and forests. The risk of wildfires and train derailments caused by this project at the headwaters of the Colorado River are unacceptable. I stand with Eagle County as they continue to fight back in the DC Circuit.
- A new study found that the Colorado River Basin has lost 27.8 million acre-feet of groundwater since 2003 – nearly equal to Lake Mead's capacity. As water loss continues to threaten this essential water system, I will keep fighting to protect it for the 40 million people who rely on it every day.
- This week, I joined my democratic Senate colleagues to reintroduce the Ban Congressional Stock Trading Act. This bill would require members of Congress and their family members to place their stocks into a blind trust or divest their holdings to prevent them from profiting off of insider information.
