Condemning the Antisemitic Attack in Boulder on the Senate Floor

What happened: Last week in Boulder, Colorado, a lone attacker committed unspeakable violence against Jewish Coloradans who gathered weekly for a peaceful march in support of Hamas’ hostages. He did not attack them to make a political statement, but because he simply wanted to kill Jews.

What I did: This week, I spoke on the Senate Floor to condemn this violent terror attack.

What I believe: Antisemitism is the world’s oldest hatred. We must recommit to stand united with the Jewish community, for freedom–of speech and religion–and against fear. Hate has no home in Colorado.

2. Fighting Corruption at the Highest Levels of Government

What’s happening: In just the first six months of his Administration, Donald Trump has already benefited financially by issuing cryptocurrency.

What I did:
This week, I introduced an amendment to the GENIUS Act to fight the Trump family’s corruption by preventing the President and Vice President from issuing or endorsing stablecoins. In case you missed it, you can watch my remarks introducing the amendment on the Senate floor HERE.

What I believe:
Presidents, vice presidents, and elected officials should not use their public office for personal profit. I will keep fighting to rein in the Trump family's rampant corruption.

3. IN THE NEWS THIS WEEK

  • I spoke out against proposed cuts to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits in the Republican Budget Bill–the largest proposed cuts in the program’s history. SNAP helps 1 in 10 Coloradans put nutritious food on the table, and is a lifeline for children and seniors. I will continue fighting against cuts to this vital program for the millions of Americans who rely on it.
  • As we enter Pride Month, Boulder County Courthouse was designated as a national historic landmark for its role in LGBTQ+ history. As LGBTQ+ Americans continue to be targeted by discrimination and violence, Colorado will always stand for equality for all.
  • I urged Senate Majority Leader John Thune to protect over $1 billion in funding for NPR and PBS. Public broadcasting provides free, high-quality programming to thousands of households in Colorado. This program is vital to rural Coloradans and should remain fully funded by Congress.
