Thank You for Coming to My Town Halls

What happened: This week, I spoke with Coloradans at town halls in Steamboat Springs and Aurora. In case you missed them, you can watch my Steamboat Springs town hall with Rep. Joe Neguse here and my Aurora town hall with Rep. Jason Crow here. Thank you to the hundreds of Coloradans who showed up to discuss how we can make our state stronger.

What I believe: I have held 14 town halls in 2025 across the state of Colorado. Since March, I have met in-person with over 5,200 Coloradans. Meeting with constituents is one of the most important parts of my job. As I keep fighting for Colorado, I look forward to our next conversation.

2. Protecting Colorado’s Water for Future Generations

Speaking at the Colorado Water Congress Summer Conference with Senator John Hickenlooper and Congressman Joe Neguse

What’s happening:
Climate change continues to intensify the Western water crisis, worsening water shortages and threatening Coloradans’ way of life.

What I did: I spoke at the annual Colorado Water Congress Summer Conference alongside my Colorado Congressional colleagues about the challenges facing our state’s water resources. I have long fought to protect the water our state relies on, having secured $4 billion to fight Western drought in the Inflation Reduction Act – including $170 million of announced funding for 18 infrastructure projects across Colorado – and over $500 million in other federal funding for the Arkansas Valley Conduit. As our climate grows hotter and drier, I will continue to fight to protect the water that Coloradans rely on for generations to come.

3. Celebrating Innovative Geothermal Development in Hayden

What’s happening:
Since coal plant closures were announced in Craig and Hayden, I have fought alongside local leaders to help these communities chart their own path forward. Together, we secured nearly $10 million in federal funding for Hayden, including over $5 million for the development of an industrial park. The industrial park will harness a new geothermal project to heat and cool its buildings, highlighting the important role geothermal can play in Colorado’s rural and transitioning communities.

What I did: I visited Hayden to celebrate their planned geothermal project, which will provide affordable, reliable heating and cooling to local businesses and help drive economic growth. Through innovative projects like this one, Colorado’s rural communities continue to be at the forefront of the energy transition.

4. IN THE NEWS THIS WEEK

  • This August marks five years since the Cameron Peak Fire started in Larimer County. Colorado’s largest wildfire to date, it burned for 112 days over tens of thousands of acres of land. This anniversary serves as a reminder that we must invest in wildfire mitigation to save Coloradans’ lives, property, and money.
  • The IRS is hosting a survey to determine whether Americans want a new version of the DirectFile program. DirectFile was a free-to-file tax program developed by the IRS, and was available to Americans in 25 states. You can take the survey here before it closes on September 2nd, 2025.
  • I joined my bipartisan Senate colleagues to press Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg about the lack of safeguards to protect children using AI chatbots. As the race for AI development progresses, I will continue fighting for children’s online safety, data privacy, and protections for Coloradans in the digital era.
