Hello! I filmed this week’s highs and lows this morning from one of my favorite places to run, the National Mall. It’s just so inspirational to run through there.

Well, both my highs and lows have to do with the Big Beautiful Bill. The low is we still haven't voted on that, and we probably won't until maybe the middle of the night on Saturday, due to how the process works here.

The high is I wish you could all be behind the scenes with me in the conversations I’ve had with other senators. Because if you could, you would see how thoughtful senators on both sides of the conversation have been. For instance, we’ve held extensive debates on how to best approach spending cuts while ensuring we protect and safeguard benefits like Medicaid for those who truly need it.

I just want you to know that there has been a lot deliberation on all of the issues addressed by this bill, and the debate has been thoughtful and robust. Hopefully, we will get to the right answer very soon.

Have a great weekend.

Careful stewardship of our lands is a core part of Utah’s legacy and its values. Senator Curtis applauded the Department of Agriculture for repealing a rule that was prohibiting wildfire mitigation practices. Now, nearly 60% of forest service land in Utah can be utilized for responsible fire management.

President Trump signed into law legislation introduced by Senator Curtis to overturn the Biden Environmental Protection Agency’s Review of Final Rule Reclassification of Major Sources as Area Sources. This rule prevented many industries vital to our nation’s economic and national security from reclassifying as Area Sources and discouraged efforts to reduce emissions.

“The rule put forward under the former administration shut the door on progress,” said Senator Curtis. “It told companies that no matter how much they invest to reduce harmful emissions, they would still be punished with permanent red tape. That’s not good science, it’s not good governance, and it certainly isn’t good for the environment.”

Senator Curtis joined Kaitlan Collins live on CNN to discuss the latest on Iran. The President’s recent actions to de-escalate conflicts in the Middle East and remove the nuclear threat in Iran should be the first chapter in the book on peace through strength. The ceasefire announcement gives us a reason for hope and peace in the region.

One constituent recently reached out for help expediting a passport for a business trip and received prompt, compassionate, and thorough support from our casework team. With their permission, we’re sharing their story to show how our office is here to help when time matters most.
