Hey, highs and lows. I’ve got a really fun high this week. I have a new portrait of Mount Timpanogos, one of my favorite places in the world, one of my happy places, hanging in my office. The artist’s name is Linda Curley Christensen. I’m so pleased to have it hanging in my office as a reminder for me and everyone who visits how beautiful Utah is.

The low is the shutdown. It is just a stinker, and it gets worse. SNAP benefits expire November 1st. As you know, we've now voted 13 times on a clean resolution to pass this and get the government open. We need a few more votes from my democratic colleagues and we just can't get the support to do it.

I hope you have a great weekend.

This legislation will strengthen wildfire resilience by improving forest management, supporting fire-safe communities, and streamlining approvals for projects that protect communities and ecosystems from extreme wildfires.

The bill, also introduced with Senators Sheehy (R-MT) and Padilla (D-CA), passed out of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry last week by a bipartisan vote of 18-5. Read more about the bill and Committee markup here.

When a tax refund is delayed, it can be incredibly difficult to get answers from the IRS. One Utahn spent months trying to resolve an amended return without success until they reached out to Senator Curtis’ office. With timely support from our casework team, the issue was resolved and the refund was received. With their permission, we’re sharing their story to show how our office can help when constituents hit a wall with federal agencies.

If you can't get an answer from a federal agency in a timely fashion, or if you feel you have been treated unfairly, our office may be able to help resolve a problem or get you the information you need. While we cannot guarantee you a favorable outcome, we will do our best to help you receive a fair and timely response to your problem.
