On
the
Road
Upper
Big
Branch
Remembrance
Ceremony
I
was
humbled
and
honored
to
attend the
Remembrance
Ceremony
for
the
eighth
Anniversary
of
the
Upper
Big
Branch
Mine
Disaster
in
Whitesville
last
week. No
family
or
community
should
have
to
ever
deal
with
a
tragedy
that
was
preventable
like
this
one
at
Upper
Big
Branch.
We
must
strive
to
ensure
that
there
are
adequate
safety
standards
in
place
so
that
miners
will
come
back
to
their
loved
ones
each
and
every
day.
As
always,
Gayle
and
I
join
all
West
Virginians
in
grieving
the
loss
of
those
29
miners
and
we
honor
their
memories
and
pray
for
the
continued
strength
of
their
families.
Visiting
Whitesville
I
also
visited
Midtown
Grocery
and
Arvon's
Floral
in
Whitesville
before
stopping
by
The
Country
Store
in
Seth.
These
small
businesses
are
the
heart
of
their
communities
and
our
state.
Bluefield
Job
Fair
Many
thanks
to
the
nearly
100
employers
and
500 job
seekers
who
participated
in
the
job
fair at
Bluefield
State
College
last
week!
