From

Asking
West
Virginians to
Share
Concerns
About
Elimination
of
Protections
for
Those
for
Those
with
Pre-Existing
Conditions
An
ongoing
lawsuit,
led
by
20
U.S.
Attorneys
General
which
as
of
last
Friday
will
no
longer
be
defended
by
the
U.S.
Department
of
Justice,
would
allow
insurance
companies
to
once
again
deny
coverage
to
West
Virginians
with
pre-existing
conditions.
I
want
West
Virginians
to
share
their
stories
about
how
the
repeal
of
the
current
provision
prohibiting
insurance
companies
from
denying
healthcare
coverage
to
people
with
pre-existing
conditions
would
impact
them
and
their
families.
Repealing
the
provision
that
requires
insurance
companies
to
cover
Americans
with
pre-existing
conditions
will
have
detrimental
impacts
for
families
across
West
Virginia.
I
have
always
said
that
our
nation’s
current
healthcare
system
is
in
need
of
repair.
But
every
West
Virginian
deserves
access
to
quality,
affordable
healthcare
regardless
of
their
health
conditions.
I
will
not
stand
by
while
we
risk
going
back
to
a
time
when
insurance
companies
could
play
God
as
they
picked
and
chose
those
they
wished
to
insure.
That
is
why
I
want
to
hear
from
my
fellow
West
Virginians
about
the
importance
of
protecting
healthcare
access
for
those
with
pre-existing
conditions.
West
Virginians
wishing
to
share
their
story
about
the
importance
of
protecting
access
for
those
with
pre-existing
conditions
can
email
them
to
healthcare@manchin.senate.gov.
Senator
Manchin
will
read
your
stories
on
the
Senate
Floor.
Bipartisan
Effort
in
Demanding
Release
of
Water
Safety
Report
This
week
I
joined
a
bipartisan
group
of
12
Senators
in
demanding
the
administration
release
the
results
of
a
study
regarding
what
levels
of
certain
chemicals
are
safe
in
drinking
water.
The
Environmental
Protection
Agency
(EPA),
according
to
recent
news
reports,
has
been
delaying the
release
of
a
Department
of
Health
and
Human
Services
(HHS)
study
on
the
toxic
Per-and
Polyfluoroalkyl
Substances
(PFAS).
PFAS
is
a
class
of
toxic
chemicals
that
have
been
linked
to
a
variety
of
serious
health
conditions
and
are
regularly
used
in
manufacturing.
According
to
recent
media
reports,
the
HHS
study
reportedly
shows
that
the
level
of
exposure
to
PFAS
that
poses
a
danger
to
human
health
is
lower
than
previously
understood.
While
this
study
was
finalized
in
January
2018,
EPA
officials
purportedly
have
been
working
to
delay the
release
of
this
report.
We
are
demanding
the
agencies
release
the
report
so
that
the
many
local
communities
suffering
from
PFAS
contamination
to
their
water
systems
have
access
to
all
the
best
science
as
they
work
to
make
sure
their
local
water
is
safe.
