On the Road

Today I delivered remarks at the groundbreaking of the new Rockwool manufacturing facility in Jefferson County. With a total investment of more than $150 million, the new manufacturing facility will cover 460,000 square feet and employ around 150 people in positions ranging from management to the production line.

It was an honor to attend the 71st annual 1st Cavalry Division Association reunion on Friday. On July 17, 144 a group of First Team Soldiers in the Admiralty Islands formed an association of 1st Cavalry Division Soldiers and Veterans to preserve the friendships that had been forged and to gather together throughout the years. While the location changes from year to year, the unshakable bond of the 1st Cavalry Division remains as strong as ever.

My Regional Coordinator for the Northern Panhandle, Mary Jo Guidi, celebrated West Virginia Day at Independence Hall in Wheeling.

West Virginia Spotlight

Veteran, Bob Goldenberg

Bob Goldenberg is one of the longest-practicing attorneys in West Virginia. He enlisted in the Navy in 1943, entered the officer training program and was sent to mine warfare school. After training, he was assigned to the YMS-91, a mine sweeper in the South Pacific. The boats were wooden because they were less likely to trigger the magnetic mechanism of underwater mines.  It was an extremely dangerous job, but Goldenberg served with bravery and professionalism.

Bob, I join all of West Virginia in thanking your for your outstanding service to our nation.

How May We Help You?

I truly appreciate the opportunity to hear from my fellow West Virginians. As your U.S. Senator, I am proud to be your voice with government agencies during your time of need. My goal is to provide top-notch customer service for every West Virginian who contacts me, or who may need help.  I have a team of caseworkers in each of my four offices to help you with matters of concern. While I have no direct jurisdiction in the administrative matters of any federal, state, or local agency, I welcome the opportunity to assist you with whatever problem you may be experiencing and ask that full consideration be given to your case.

Recently, Cris Hewett a caseworker in my Martinsburg Office was able to assist Miss. Elizabeth Sperry with her passport application.  As a surprise for her 16th birthday, Miss Sperry’s parents had planned a 10 day trip to London, and Paris.  Unfortunately, Elizabeth’s passport had expired. Cris coordinated with the Washington Passport Agency to ensure that Elizabeth’s passport was completed in time for the trip. The Sperry family plan to celebrate Elizabeth’s 16th birthday in London, visiting Shakespeare’s Globe Theater!  Gayle and I extend warm wishes for a Happy 16th birthday to Elizabeth!
