On the Road

Upper Big Branch will live forever in our hearts, and I truly appreciate everyone who came together to honor the memory of those who lost their lives that fateful day. Nine years later, we continue to grieve, remember those we lost, and to pray for their families.

It was a pleasure meeting with John Cobb from Lewis County who was named 2019 West Virginia Tree Farmer of the Year. John has done a great job of helping other West Virginians find the resources available for wildlife preservation on private property through programs at the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service and the West Virginia Division of Forestry.

Regional Coordinator Mary Jo Guidi attended the centennial anniversary of the Polish American Patriot Club. A century ago, the club was established as a welcoming presence for Polish immigrants to assimilate to American life and gain their citizenship. Many of these individuals served in our nation’s military, and the club boasts an impressive collection of archives from World War II and beyond.  Now it remains a proud organization that celebrates the rich Polish heritage and its history in the Mid-Ohio Valley, and also takes pride in offering college scholarships.

How May We Help You?

I truly appreciate the opportunity to hear from my fellow West Virginians. As your U.S. Senator, I am proud to be your voice with government agencies during your time of need. My goal is to provide top-notch customer service for every West Virginian who contacts me, or who may need help. My staff is available to help you with matters of concern. While I have no direct jurisdiction in the administrative matters of any federal, state, or local agency, I welcome the opportunity to assist you with whatever problem you may be experiencing and ask that full consideration is given to your case.

Ms. Debra Schwab of Little Birch submitted an appeal for VA benefits in 2014; the case was remanded to the Regional office for additional medical development and Ms. Schwab had been waiting ever since for information.  She reached out to the Senator on January 8 for help.  As a result of our inquiries and persistent contact with the VA, Ms. Schwab’s case was completed.  On March 28 a letter went out from the VA awarding Ms. Schwab her service-connected benefits.
