WV 211:
United Way of West Virginia provides an important service to West Virginians by helping users navigate the vast number of resources available to aid with healthcare issues, food shortages, mental health questions and more. This program is more important now than ever as we battle the COVID-19 pandemic and I commend United Way for continuing to serve their fellow West Virginians through this time.
United Way’s new 2-1-1 will make information on a wide variety of local support services more accessible across our entire state,” said United Way of Central WV President, Margaret O’Neal. “Whether it’s information for locating a health clinic, finding child care programs, or getting housing assistance, 2-1-1 is an easy-to-remember, go-to resource for individuals and families.
To utilize these resources West Virginians can:

IRS ECONOMIC IMPACT PAYMENTS:
As a reminder, the IRS has recently begun sending letters to nearly 9 million Americans, including 27,788 West Virginians, who may be eligible for an Economic Impact Payment (EIP), but that need to take further action by October 15 to receive one.
This is especially important for individuals who typically do not file income tax returns as the IRS may not have enough information to determine an individual’s eligibility. These EIPs, sometimes referred to as stimulus payments or checks, were authorized by Congress through the CARES Act and can be up to $1,200 per individual and $2,400 for married couples as well as $500 for each dependent child under the age of 17. If you were eligible and filed a return for 2018 or 2019 or receive Social Security benefits, SSI, Railroad Retirement benefits, or Veterans Affairs benefits, you should have already received an EIP and do not need to take further action. If you believe that you may be eligible for an EIP, but have yet to receive a payment, you can access the non-filer tool on the IRS website here: https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/non-filers-enter-payment-info-here or may contact my office at 304-342-5855.
