Back in 2015, the FCC released a coverage map that stated 99.9% of Americans had wireless coverage. I knew then what I know now: That is just plain wrong.

Billy Hall from Beckley contacted the Senator to request assistance with the IRS and his EIP stimulus payment. His initial EIP payment was scheduled for deposit in May 2020, but his bank hadn’t received the check from the IRS.  After Caseworker Gerrie Greene sent an inquiry to the IRS, he received his EIP payment in October.

MANCHIN STATEMENT ON 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE MARSHALL UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL PLANE CRASH
Charleston, WV – U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) released the following statement on the 50th anniversary of the Marshall University football team plane crash on November 14th, 1970.

"Fifty years ago, the devastating loss of 75 people, including members of the Marshall football team and Huntington community, shook our state and the entire nation to our core. The Marshall University community mourned the loss of their classmates, family and friends. And in the aftermath of this horrific loss, through the tremendous strength of West Virginians and the Thundering Herd family, hope rose from the ashes. The unyielding spirit of this community is a true testament to those we lost on that dreadful night and they will never be forgotten. Today, we all remember those who are not with us and honor their contributions to our great state and to Marshall University. Their memories live on as the Marshall community continues to thrive."

MANCHIN, CAPITO ANNOUNCE $28.6 MILLION TO HEAT WEST VIRGINIA HOMES
Charleston, WV – U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $28,631,377 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) to heat low income West Virginia homes.

"As we head into the colder months, over 48,000 West Virginians need help with heating their homes and keeping their families warm. In October, I wrote to HHS Secretary Azar urging him to release the LIHEAP funds so we could make sure West Virginians are warm during these winter months, and I am pleased they heeded the request," said Senator Manchin. "Every West Virginian deserves to have a roof over their head and a warm place to sleep, and I will continue to fight for funding that helps provide our fellow West Virginians with these basic necessities."

MANCHIN, CAPITO ANNOUNCE $1 MILLION IN EPA FUNDING
Washington, DC – U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $1,071,361 from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for West Virginia. Funding will support air and water pollution control, provide resources for the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources, and promote initiatives at West Virginia’s higher education institutions.

"West Virginians deserve to live in communities with clean water and fresh air that are safe places to work and raise families. This funding will support projects across the Mountain State to upgrade infrastructure, expand sustainability, and provide protections needed to help our communities thrive. We must do all we can to keep West Virginia wild and wonderful and I will continue to support these efforts," said Senator Manchin.

MANCHIN, CAPITO JOIN BIPARTISAN PUSH TO PROTECT WEST VIRGINIA AIR NATIONAL GUARD AIRCRAFT FROM ELIMINATION
Washington, DC – U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) joined a bipartisan Senate coalition advocating for a large enough C-130 aircraft fleet in West Virginia and across the country to support active duty missions as well as respond to disasters and emergencies at home. Specifically, the senators and their colleagues wrote a letter urging Armed Services Committee conferees to make sure the final National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) bill adopts House language so that the nation maintains an adequate inventory of C-130 aircraft.
