I was always taught that if you can count your blessings, you can share your blessings. I’ve been seeing so many great WV Strong and Better Angels stories. During these unprecedented times, it’s important to focus on all the wonderful things that are still happening every day in our beautiful state.
Nominated as today’s Better Angels is the team at the Friendship Room in Fairmont, which just celebrated its 1st anniversary on November 19. The Friendship Room, a program of Milan Puskar Health Right, is an outstanding service that gives those experiencing homelessness or drug addiction a place to go during the day. Some of their activities include an art program, Wifi, coffee, breakfast, snacks, recovery groups linking to community services and more. Those who visit the Friendship Room have a number of resources at their disposal, including meetings with a peer recovery coach and services that allow participants to attain their birth certificates, Social Security cards and more, as well as access to the housing process. Thank you to those who contributed to making this resource possible for those in need.
Friendship Fairmont presented the Marion County Commission with a plaque as thanks for the commission’s role in setting up the Friendship Room.
