Congressionally Directed Spending Requests web page can be accessed at www.manchin.senate.gov/appropriations

Charleston, WV – Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV), member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, launched a new web page for Congressionally Directed Spending requests. This year, the Senate Appropriations Committee will be allowing communities and non-profits the opportunity to request targeted funding through Congressionally Directed Spending, or Earmarks.

“As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I work hard to ensure taxpayer dollars are allocated to priorities that benefit West Virginians and all Americans while remaining fiscally responsible. Investing in West Virginia has always been a top priority and these federal investments spur innovation and boost our economy, while also supporting the needs of our state. The investments can range anywhere from supporting rural communities, through investments in infrastructure and broadband, to funding programs that help small businesses or address the drug epidemic,” said Senator Manchin. “This year, the Senate Appropriations Committee will allow state and local governments, non-profits and public entities to request targeted funds through Congressionally Directed Spending. My new webpage will allow West Virginia governments and organizations to submit requests directly to my office until Friday, May 14th and I look forward to reviewing the requests.”

The Senate Appropriations Committee helps write legislation to allocate federal funds to government agencies, departments and organizations on an annual basis. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Senator Manchin works to ensure that federal spending is targeted towards priorities that strengthen our country and promote, protect and benefit West Virginia.

MANCHIN ANNOUNCES $475K FROM AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN TO SUPPORT WEST VIRGINIA HEALTH CENTERS
Charleston, WV – Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) announced $475,242 in funding from the American Rescue Plan to West Virginia Primary Care Association (WVPCA), which represents safety-net health care providers and health centers across the state.

“West Virginia health centers provide excellent care to their fellow West Virginians, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. This funding from the American Rescue Plan will help the West Virginia Primary Care Association support health centers across the state by providing training and technical assistance. Not only does the training and technical assistance help health centers expand capacity and provide quality healthcare, but it will also support health centers as they respond to the COVID-19 pandemic and distribute and administer the COVID-19 vaccine. I will continue to work with the West Virginia Primary Care Association to support health centers in the Mountain State and keep West Virginians healthy,” said Senator Manchin.

“We are delighted and grateful for the continued backing of the WVPCA and health centers by our state’s Congressional delegation and the Biden administration,” Sherri Ferrell, CEO of the WVPCA, said. “Community Health Centers have been battling COVID-19 on the frontlines by caring for, testing and/or vaccinating patients and the public, alike, since March 2020. With this new funding, we can carry on our role in the coronavirus pandemic fight and support our health centers and communities in these efforts.”

This funding will help the WVPCA expand training and technical assistance to health centers for COVID-19 Vaccination Capacity, COVID-19 Response and Treatment Capacity, Maintaining or Increasing Capacity, Recovery and Stabilization and Infrastructure. In April, Senator Manchin announced that all Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) funded health centers and look-alike health centers in West Virginia have been invited to participate in the COVID-19 Vaccine Program, which allows the 31 health centers in West Virginia to order COVID-19 vaccine doses directly from the federal government.

MANCHIN ANNOUNCES MORE THAN $545K FROM THE AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN TO SUPPORT MOTHERS AND CHILDREN

Charleston, WV – Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) announced $545,359 from the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources for the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting Program. The award is funded through the American Rescue Plan and will help give pregnant women, mothers and families, especially those considered at-risk, the skills and resources to raise physically, socially, and emotionally healthy children.

This funding from the American Rescue Plan will help provide this support to mothers and families through home visits where health and social service professionals help guide and teach new parents how to improve their children’s health and set them up for success. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to advocate for funding and resources to support mothers and children in the Mountain State,” said Senator Manchin.

This funding from the American Rescue Plan will support the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting Program in West Virginia which aims to improve maternal and child health, prevent child abuse and neglect, encourage positive parenting and promote child development and school readiness through regular, planned home visits from health, social services and child development professionals.
