“The American Rescue Plan continues to be vital to defeating the COVID-19 pandemic and helping our fellow West Virginians recover from the pandemic,” said Senator Manchin. “For the past week, Auditor McCuskey and I have held guidance sessions on the American Rescue Plan, including new Treasury guidelines for state, city, and local uses for funding provided in the relief package. My staff and I are prepared to assist our communities in completing projects to help improve the Mountain State.”
“As our state and country reopen after a year-long pandemic, the State Auditor's Office is excited to use the experience and tools we have built over the last four years to ensure every taxpayer dollar that is sent to our local governments is spent effectively, legally, and transparently. We are proud of the relationships we have built with our amazing city and county leaders and look forward to being a channel for them as they rebuild the infrastructure that has been neglected for decades. We believe the best way to hold government officials accountable is to provide taxpayers with real-time transparent data about their spending,” said West Virginia Auditor John B. “JB” McCuskey.

MANCHIN PROVIDES UPDATE ON AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN FUNDING FOR WEST VIRGINIA LOCAL GOVERNMENTS
Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) provided an update on the funding included in the American Rescue Plan for local governments in West Virginia. The Treasury Department recently provided updated guidance on funding for states, cities, counties and municipalities. “When we passed the American Rescue Plan in March, states were given estimates on funding they would receive for vital infrastructure projects, COVID-19 response efforts, broadband expansion, and supporting our frontline workers. Recently, the Treasury Department released updated guidance that shows West Virginia will be receiving more funding to support these vital efforts. This is fantastic news for our state, counties, cities and municipalities. This is a once-in-a-generation investment into our state, and as these communities determine how to use their funds, my team and I stand ready to answer any questions or concerns about the American Rescue Plan funds.” From the American Rescue Plan, local governments will receive: $678.8 million that will go directly to local governments – cities and counties – across West Virginia for expanding broadband and fixing sewer and water infrastructure, including:
$168.2 million for larger metropolitan cities $162.5 million for smaller cities $348.1 million for 55 counties $1.355 billion for the state of West Virginia

ICYMI: MANCHIN, VA SECRETARY MCDONOUGH VISIT CLARKSBURG VAMC
Clarksburg, WV – U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Veterans Affairs (VA) Secretary Denis McDonough visited the Clarksburg VA Medical Center and toured the facility.
“VA Secretary McDonough and I visited the Clarksburg VAMC to learn more about the lapses in procedure and leadership that allowed for the horrific deaths of West Virginia Veterans at the Clarksburg VAMC. It has taken nearly three years to get an answer for our Veterans and their families, and I will continue to ask for a Senate Veterans Affairs Committee hearing on VAMC care so that we can ensure that what happened at the Clarksburg VAMC will never happen to another Veteran.”
