Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) provided an update on business assistance included in the American Rescue Plan, which extended programs like the Paycheck Protection Program, Economic Injury Disaster Loans, Shuttered Venue Operators Grant Program and Restaurant Revitalization Fund to support West Virginia businesses. “The COVID-19 pandemic has taken a toll on West Virginia businesses, especially our small businesses, forcing many to close their doors or lay off workers. The American Rescue Plan continues to deliver critical relief to businesses across the state through extending vital programs like the Paycheck Protection Program, Economic Injury Disaster Loans, Shuttered Venue Operators Grant Program and Restaurant Revitalization Fund. Small businesses are truly the backbone of West Virginia’s economy and ensuring they have the resources to succeed is one of my top priorities. As our economy continues to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, I will work with federal agencies, West Virginia organizations and businesses to ensure every West Virginia business is supported during these difficult times.” Senator Manchin has been working tirelessly with the U.S. Small Business Administration, state agencies and local organizations to support West Virginia businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. In May, Senator Manchin hosted SBA Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman for a virtual information session to explain SBA’s new Restaurant Revitalization Fund and to answer questions from restaurant owners.
MANCHIN, STATE AUDITOR MCCUSKEY HOLD NINTH AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN INFORMATION SESSION
West Virginia will receive at least $4 billion from the American Rescue Plan
Washington, DC – Yesterday, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) and West Virginia Auditor John B. “JB” McCuskey held the ninth information session on the American Rescue Plan benefits for West Virginia. “The American Rescue Plan continues to be vital to defeating the COVID-19 pandemic and helping our fellow West Virginians recover from the pandemic. Our local governments alone will receive $678.8 million in direct funding from the American Rescue Plan,” said Senator Manchin. “Over the past two weeks, Auditor McCuskey and I have held nine guidance sessions across West Virginia on the American Rescue Plan. At each event, our staff answered questions from local government officials on how the funds can be used to address needs in each community. As communities across the state plan for the unprecedented opportunity of funding coming directly to every city, town and county in West Virginia, our staff will continue to help officials utilize these funds to improve the Mountain State.” “As our state and country reopen after a year-long pandemic, the State Auditor's Office is excited to use the experience and tools we have built over the last four years to ensure every taxpayer dollar that is sent to our local governments is spent effectively, legally, and transparently. We are proud of the relationships we have built with our amazing city and county leaders and look forward to being a channel for them as they rebuild the infrastructure that has been neglected for decades. We believe the best way to hold government officials accountable is to provide taxpayers with real-time transparent data about their spending,” said West Virginia Auditor John B. “JB” McCuskey.
